Ignatieff’s Campus Tour a huge success!

2010-02-15

From Nova Scotia to British Columbia and back to the nation’s capital, Michael Ignatieff’s campus tour this January was a resounding success!

Crowds as large as 1200 greeted Mr. Ignatieff on campuses from coast to coast on a tour that allowed the Liberal Leader to meet and engage in a dialogue with thousands of our fellow young Canadians.

“Unlike Prime Minister Harper, who hides from youth and all Canadians behind a shuttered Parliament, Michael Ignatieff decided to speak directly with young Canadians in order to show them who he really is – and to take in their vision for Canada in 2017,” said Sam Lavoie, President of the Young Liberals of Canada.

Romina Siddiqui
, 21, a fourth-year economics student at the University of Toronto (Mississauga), said Ignatieff's appearance was "very inspiring."

"I think he motivates youth to get involved in politics, to try and make a difference for the future of Canada," she said.

“Mr. Harper doesn't do anything like this,” concluded Mr. Ignatieff at the University of Ottawa.

“He doesn't sit in a room with unscripted questions, ever. One of the advantages of my position and my view of politics is that I'm willing to go anywhere and I've been rewarded by civility, seriousness and engagement by this generation,” he said. “It's been fantastic.”

If you attended an event or know friends who did, pass on the following link to sign up to volunteer for Michael. Together as young Canadians we can make Michael Ignatieff our Prime Minister and build the more just, sustainable, and prosperous Canada we dream of for 2017.
