The 2010 YLC Summer Internship Program: apply now!

The Young Liberals of Canada are pleased to announce the 2010 Summer Student Program.
Young Liberals will be placed in the Liberal Party of Canada Headquarters, or in Senate and MP offices for these paid internships.
Applications should include:
1. Resume
2. Cover letter explaining why you feel you would be a good candidate
3. Two letters of reference
4. A 1-page summary of either:
- A strategy on what can be done within your home riding to increase the chances of success; or
- A fundraising initiative focused either locally, provincially, or nationally
- What does it mean to you to be a Young Liberal
Your application should include your educational background, language proficiencies, computer skills (including web and graphic design if applicable), and all previous relevant experience.
Optional: Portfolios of writing samples, web and graphic design, etc will be considered.
Application deadline is March 12, 2010, 11:59pm EST
The program start date is May 10, 2010.

The program runs from May 10, 2010 until August 20, 2010. Students will not be provided compensation for accommodation or travel costs, but assistance will be provided for finding housing in Ottawa.
Eligible applicants are Canadian citizen between the ages of 18 and 26.
*Daily tasks of successful applicants may include:
· Community outreach
· Policy and strategy development
· Correspondence
· Policy and issue research
· Volunteer recruitment
· Online and website development
· Art and graphic design
Training will occur in the following fields: 10%ers, householders, correspondence, stakeholders’ relations, riding outreach, social media, media awareness, and volunteer coordination and appreciation.
In addition to the initial training, Summer Students will have weekly sessions on fundraising, effective door knocking and phone banking, campaign literature, pre-writ management, as well as educational and recreational trips in the Ottawa area.
