YLC Delegation returns from Copenhagen
2010-01-18
The historic Copenhagen Climate Change Conference (COP15) in December was attended by a very sizable contingent of Young Liberals from all across Canada, with Canadian youth standing up for climate action even if Canada’s Harper government refused to do so.
Over 20 Young Liberals took part in a program supported by the International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY) which put these Canadian youth at the forefront and focal point of international efforts to seriously confront global climate change.
“It was an amazing opportunity for Young Liberals to make an impact on the world stage,” said YLC VP External Tom Chervinsky, who set up the delegation. “Even if Prime Minister Harper continues to disregard Canadians’ concerns about the need to act against climate change, Young Liberals will be standing up for sustainability and Canadian values both here at home and around the world.”
