"Camp Wanna Be Free" and Atlantic Caucus

2009-08-17

With summer in full-swing, things just wouldn't be the same without the traditional Young Liberal caucuses. To kick things off, Young Liberals from across Western Canada met in Saskatchewan for the legendary Camp Wannabe Free. Not only did we enjoy the beach on the shores of Diefenbaker Lake, we also listened to fascinating discussions about our Commission.

The main topics concerned communications (the new YLC Web site), stronger ties with various communities and groups as well as recruitment. All of the Young Liberals who attended agreed on the need to bolster the ranks of young people within our Party. It was extremely refreshing to hold a wide-open debate on the various possible means of achieving this objective. Congratulations to Zach Jeffries and the Saskatchewan Young Liberal Organization for organizing the event.

Secondly, we were invited to Nova Scotia to meet up with all Young Liberals from the Maritimes and Newfoundland in the first weekend of August. Like the event in Saskatchewan, many dynamic Young Liberals were on hand. The YLC presentation focused on recruitment and communications, preparations for the next election campaign and YLC finances. The Young Liberals in attendance asked many questions following the presentation, which generated a highly relevant and enlightening discussion. Afterward, we flexed our muscles in a friendly (but hotly competitive) game of kick-ball. Hats off to Neil MacIsaac , Victoria A. Jones and the Nova Scotia Young Liberals for an extremely successful weekend.
